Good one, Machete!

Posted by Kero at Monday, February 21, 2011 0 sweets for Kero

Cartoonish and violent but Machete is one enjoyable film. I absolutely adore the lead cast Danny Trejo who was always picked for the role. Hubby and I watched it last week and until today, we are still giggling whenever we recall Machete walking with his knife.

The plot is about illegal immigrants and Mexicans crossing the border. Other than that, I'm not saying anything else lol! Get your copy when the Chinese guy rings your door bell.

I can't wait for the sequel Machete Kills and Machete Kills Again hahahaaa!

The Gods Must Be Crazy

I don't think there is a funnier movie I remember watching with my brother. We were laughing so hard that tears rolled down on my face. I am looking forward to watching this again with him and reminisce the good 'ol days =)

The Gods Must Be Crazy was released in 1980. It was about a Bushman in the Kalahari desert who encounters technology for the first time--in the shape of a Coke bottle. He takes it back to his people, and they use it for many tasks. The people start to fight over it, so he decides to return it to the God--where he thinks it came from. Meanwhile, we are introduced to a school teacher assigned to a small village, a despotic revolutionary, and a clumsy biologist.

For those who have seen the movie, the mere still images from the scenes brings a roaring laughter =)

Movie Marathon

Posted by Kero at Sunday, July 12, 2009 0 sweets for Kero
Andreas' steady breathing...... Lights off. Pull couch closer to the TV. Blanket. My head tucked inside hubby's embrace and we start our movie date...

1. Taken (2008)
Starring Liam Neeson, it's about a former spy who relies on his old skills to save his daughter from human trafficking... and it's a one man team movie. He is old to fight all the bad guys but entertaining enough.

2. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
Last time i knew, I like Harrison Ford movies. But this put hubby to snore after 15 minutes. i did not even bother to finish the movie.

3. The Day The Earth Stood Still
Robocop was totally out of place in this alien infested movie. What was he doing there in the first place? The fil made a success in making me feel more responsible for the Earth we live. You know, listen to those "green and hybrid awareness" before its too late or else we'll lose our planet to the aliens. Keanu Reeves has never been know for his acting but Jennifer Conelly compensates for all the acting part here. Oh yes, i did cry a little but not as much as the next movie..

4. The Green Mile (1999)
Quick grab the Kleenex before you even press play. It's beautiful, heart warming, heart wrenching....it's those movies you will want your kids to watch and take notice in the future - like any other Tom Hanks film. Miracles happen even on death row.

5. The National Treasure 2 (2008)
Starring Nicolas Cage, this movie seeks to answer historical riddles. You will learn another US presidency secret here. Period.

movie marathon

Posted by Kero at Tuesday, March 17, 2009 0 sweets for Kero
Now that Andreas' sleeping pattern is more predictable : two hours nap on day time and off to bed at 10 p.m. -- hubby and i are able to sneak in some movie time. It took us a year before we could have film marathon again on the comfort of our couch.

So here's what we have watched for the past weeks.

1.
Well, better late than never. Now i know why Megan Fox is H-O-T. I am excited to see her as the next Lara Croft.

2.

Sooooo lengthy. Hubby fell asleep after few scenes. I patiently tried and tried to finish the movie but The Joker keeps slipping out of the good guys' hands i turned off the TV and joined hubby to bed. I hate myself for not knowing the end but i just could not stomach one more appearance of The Joker.......eer maybe that is why Heath Ledger won the Oscar.

3.
Way much better than the book. Loved every outfit in everyh scene.

4.
If you have seen 300, that was much better.

5. Save The Last Dance 2
Sequels never beat the first movie.

6.
Yippeeee!! I petered hubby to get a copy of the movie. He could not understand what is soo great about vampires hik hik. Whe he finally got one, I asked we watched together. I swear he was planning to doze off on my lap but he too was smitten ahihi. It's a teen flick but heck, we are both looking forward to New Moon.

7. The Kingdom
Must see. You will hate how they portrayed the Prince but it is soo much worth sitting through. I almost considered skipping my bikini for shorts but I am turning 30 next year and i will not let the chance pass.

8. The Transporter 2
Hubby has seen the first movie but this is my first time to hear about it. Soo much better than Batman The Dark Knight. Enjoyed the stunts and the androgynous antagonist.

9. Iron Man
We enjoyed it. Gwyneth was sexy and perfect. Downey was charming.

10. Slumdog Millionaire

You have to see it. You will weep, laugh, marvel how great love is. It's my new favorite movie.

Wanted: More

Posted by Kero at Tuesday, October 28, 2008 0 sweets for Kero
A few weeks ago, hubby and i managed to sneak in a DVD date while Andreas was nursing colds and fast sleep. We opted to watch James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie's Wanted.

And we were left wanting more haha. We'll there was not much anything about the film except for some action stunts that has never been seen before. But the lines the characters say are too shallow. And they were even poorly dubbed. Jolie's shouting voice does not match the action scenes she was portraying. Script was just bad.

NO, i do not recommend Wanted to add your enormous DVD collection. Unless you are a die-hard Angelina fan. But the movie does leave me wanting to read the book.
