Shopping For Sunglasses

Posted by Kero at Wednesday, November 23, 2011 0 sweets for Kero

Black Friday is fast approaching and on top of my must-buy list is a pair of sunglasses. I broke my last pair of aviator two months ago - probably from too much travel and heat temperature. It's taking me awhile to find the right pair because I like to take my time and choose wisely. I am also sort of picky on frames. While some ladies go gaga with an expensive bag, I on the other hand, cherish eye wear. It's an accessory I absolutely cannot live without.

Even on a bad hair-day and I must go out to face the world, I just put on a huge pair and my spirit seems to soar. As fashion queen Victoria Beckham said, "Sunglasses hide a multitude of sins." And I thorougly agree. Even if you didn't sleep well last night or you don't have the time to put on mascara - or your false lashes for that matter, you still look like a Hollywood star with the proper, exquisite frame.

I found this website called Glasses.com where I enjoyed browsing their stylish collection of women's sunglasses. But before I go further to add on my shopping cart, let me just share you some tips on how to buy a pair of sunglasses:

1. A good pair should block 98% of ultra violet light to avoid any eye ailment. After all, the ultimate purpose of sunglasses is to protect our eyes.

2. Choose polarized lenses as they permit only vertical light rays to pass through them, not horizontal, and thus they reduce glare.

3. Are you going to wear it everyday like I do in this perennially sunny city? Make sure you are comfortable on the colors of the glass before parting with your cash. Most sunglasses have grey lenses because grey is a neutral color hence making it comfortable for eyes. While red, brown, and yellow can be trendy at times, they can distort color.

4. While a stylish frame makes for the over-all impact of a sunglasses, make sure it is also durable and lightweight - especially if you intend to stay hours and hours lounging on the sunbed or playing golf.

I am currently looking on Glasses.com for a wrap-around model which I think are quiet neat on the face. They also provide thorough glare and dust protection as it eliminates them from creeping in around the lenses.

Beware The Bridal Fat Trap

Posted by Kero at Wednesday, October 12, 2011 0 sweets for Kero
Does marriage makes us fat?

That's the question today over our morning coffee. My two best girlfriends married their long time partners in last and they don't have children yet, but they are both complaining of gain weight. There has been numerous studies which claim that because of the loved-up feeling, marriage does make us eat -- rather well.

And another study revealed yesterday from an Australian university claims that because of the bridal bootcamps which ultimately puts pressure for brides to be thinner - and ensure looking good on their wedding day, married women afterwards tend to gain more weight. Whatever pounds they lost before the wedding, comes back because of the yo-yoign weight.

So beware of the bridal fat trap. Remember that your groom is marrying you because he loves you inside and out. Not because you are the fairest of them all in a Vera Wang wedding dress. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, and if that doesn't make you shed weight, don't do anything drastic yet but opt for protein shakes for weight loss .

That is a lot more safer and sure keeps the extra pounds at bay.

Be Emergency Prepared With Freeze Dried Food

Posted by Kero at Thursday, May 05, 2011 0 sweets for Kero

Being an expatriate family is perhaps one of the most adventurous, challenging, and riskiest family status. You do earn more than what you will normally get in your home country but there is also a bigger chance of waking up one day and be informed that you had been let go by your company. Once you lose your job, you lose your visa and the right to remain in the rich-oil country. Added to that, there is an ongoing instability in neighboring Middle East countries. We may have been spared of earthquakes, tornadoes and tsunamis but there is a huge cloud of war looming above our skies threatening whatever economic stability we are currently enjoying.
We can only hope and pray and be prepared. Being prepared means you can live for six months without your job. Being prepared means you have food on the table regardless of the situation. All these visited my thoughts this morning when I read about an on-going trend on smart food storage. These days, you can buy freeze dried food that can last for 25 years. They remove the moisture content but the flavor and vitamins are retained. This way, it is easier and lighter to pack and store away.

My interest was piqued so I went on to research. The website Freeze-dried.com provides comprehensive information on how we should buy free dried food for emergency. We ought to look around for a company that has been long around to provide guaranty. If we have kids, we should see that the food we chose to store will provide them enough vitamins and minerals. They even provide a link to help you calculate on how much food you should buy and store.

I think it's a brilliant idea and the website is generous enough to provide discounts on group buying. They are also giving away  a bonus pack of food and drinks worth $400 if you buy three-months supply.

If you are like us who wants to have peace of mind and be prepared at all cost, then maybe you should check it out.

Avoid Medical Malpractice

Posted by Kero at Sunday, October 31, 2010 0 sweets for Kero
I got a couple of new books over the weekend from Magrudy's Warehouse Sale. Among them is Barry Reed's best selling court drama, TheVerdict.

The novel is about down-on-his luck lawyer who tries a medical malpractice case against two prominent doctors whose negligence caused a pregnant woman to go into coma. The book maybe written in 1980 but its theme medical malpractice is more resounding these days. Every now and then, we read about professionals perform their trade in a way that causes harm to their patients.

So what is one to do to avoid such predicament? First, always seek a second opinion. The leading cause of medical malpractice these days is misdiagnosis. Always verify from other professionals if you need the kind of treatment or lack thereof.

Secondly, do not panic if you signed a waiver form prior to a medical procedure. This will not be honored in court.

Third, if you suspect or feel you suffer from malpractice, immediately seek a medical malpractice lawyer. There is no reason that you should be burdened with debt or pain. A family run firm called Fuller & Fuller, lawyers give free consultations to work out if the case is strong enough.

Experienced medical malpractice attorneys of Fuller & Fuller had been serving clients for the past 35 years. They have office in Vancouver, Tacoma, Spokane, and throughout the state of Washington.
