speed beauty # 3

Posted by Kero at Thursday, February 26, 2009 0 sweets for Kero
Happy Thursday people! I finished cooking spaghetti for dinner and now i am waiting for my laundry to finish. While the machine does his own thing, i give you today a few more tips on keeping gorgeous no matter how broke or busy you are.

11. Divine Shine
If you really want to be decadent, apply perfume to your hair brush and comb through. Your hair will shine and smell divine.

12. Gym buddy
Comb rejuvenating oil through your hair before hitting the gym. The heat from exercising help the oil penetrate into the hair shaft to nourish the hair.

13. Va-va-va-voom
For more volume, flip your head upside down, spritz the roots with hairspray, lift your heap up and massage your scalp for a few seconds.

14. Super shine
When washing your hair in the shower, lather with warm water then rinse in cool. It helps add shine to your locks when you blow dry.

15. Fresh start
Fake an energized glow. Dunk your face into a sink of ice cold water.

16. Overnight facial
Once a week, use a hydrating anti-ageing mask overnight. By the morning, you will have plumped, refresh and hydrated skin.

17. Take a break
Give your skin a break. Have a day-ff from make-up.

18. Instant pedicure
Hide nail discrepansies under dark polish.

And that is all folks! Thank you for your continued interest. Those who missed the previous entries, check out the tag speed beauty on my side bar.

Have a glamorous Thursday and enjoy the weekend!

A big, warm HELLO to my fellow weekenders! We enjoyed the tails of cold wind over the weekend. We took our little boy to the Promenade Walk at Festival City where a mini carnivale was set up for the Dubai Shopping Festival.

Andreas like anything big and fury.
Here he is desperately reaching for those stuffed penguins.

We cannot give him one more stuffed toy and boy, we were glad
he quickly
turned his attention to the water feature of the hotel.
Fountains and rushing water never fail to excite him.

Thank you so much for the visit! I am excited to see all your WS entries as well. Keep smiling and have a great week ahead!

I guess my love affair with Dropshots ended last week. For a couple of weeks now, i tried uploading pics but has been unsuccessful. Until my nth try, i was redirected to a page that says they are trying to fix the problem. I gave it another week but my favorite meme was up and i desperately needed a website to convert my pics to HTML. I then decided to explore Picasa. Silly me. I always relied on Dropshots, even before i created a blogger account. It was so easy to use - just drag and drop to the Dropshots icon on the lower right screen. But other than that, there is not much you can do with your images. In Picasa, it is like having an improved Kodak software.

Anyway, since I got a new image host, i decided to snag a photo tag from dear Artemis. This too is my way of thank you to her for remembering my birthday. Thank you so much, girl. And I really enjoyed those pics from Bangkok.

Here is how the tag works.

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures. Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture. Tag six other people that you know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

Here is the sixth picture from the sixth folder in my Picasa account.

This is my soon to be 14-month old Andreas finally asleep after running around Mercato Mall. He has soo much energy that even if hubby and I are dead tired after dinner, we bring him out for a walk. Otherwise, Andreas will keep running around the room and hit the sack at 1 a.m..

Please feel free to snag if you like the meme. Take care everyone and good night!

Howdy visitors! I give you another round of fast beauty fix.

6. Lump free lashes
Before applying mascara, wipe the wand with a tissue to get rid of lumps so they don't end up on your lashes.

7. Eye shadow fixer
Before applying make-up, pat concealer over lids, brow bone and, most importantly, the corner of your eyes. This lightens the whole eye area and ensures your eye shadow stay put.

8. Organise your make-up bag
Set up an area on your dressing table to spread out your make-up tools, rather than hunting around for them in the dark abyss of your cosmetics bag. Alternatively, invest in a clear plastic make-up bag.

9. Easy eyebrows
Your eyebrows are sisters not twins - so don't spend hours trying to make them look identical or you'll run the risk of over plucking. For instant grooming, brush them with a clear brow gel.

10. Flyway free hair
After applying your body lotion or hand cream, smooth any excess over your hair to tame flyaways and control frizzy curls.

Thank you so much for the continued interest. For those who missed the first dose, check out entries with speed beauty tag. Take care and till next beauty talk!

cokey

Posted by Kero at Monday, February 16, 2009 0 sweets for Kero
I half-emptied a can of pepsi after supper and now i am wide awake. I tried a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream but not a single nerve in me feels hitting the sack. So here i am pouring my thoughts...

Hubby went to a meeting yesterday at Abu Dhabi. They are working on something called Hydra Properties that consists about thousands of villas. But unlike any other villas, these ones are interesting because of a German technology invention used. The walls of the houses are made up of styrofoam. Instead of the precast hollow blocks, there are about hundreds of gray styrofoams measuring about two meters length all put together like pieces of lego. Then concrete is poured in between those hollows. As we watched the video, hubby says it's brilliant. Germans are always ahead and innovating.

I asked him what is the effect of the German creation on pre-cast and he says they are a competition when it comes to walls but they still need stairs and hollowcore slabs from precast companies. I guess that answers my worries hihi.

Off to another issue, I always read about the stimulus plan but never looked closer on it. When the US senate approved the package, I was happy since it brings hope to the economic downturn. Sadly, as i read the business news this evening, the "buy only American" included in the stimulus bill does not sit well with me or with Chinese or any other nationality for that matter. Whatever happened to free trade? Who pushed for globalization in the first place? Maybe it is right for them to self-preserve but how about the rest of the economy worldwide? One more question, will all Americans afford their own products? If the marginal answers negative, there is still slight hope for Japanese cars to survive the American dream.

It's the love month and our second valentine as a family. We celebrated V day at Sezzam, Kempinski Hotel. The restaurant has been highly recommended with its steam, flame, and bake options included in their intercontinental buffet. The 800-seater dining area boasts a view of the Ski Dubai. There is magician, face painting, and bouncy castle to keep children occupied while parents indulge in overflowing food.

After loads of sushi and kebab, i headed for the dessert section.
I got dizzy with the selection of cakes and pastries but i took
one of each kind from those i thought were not too sweet.

We finished our V-day brunch with a huge cup of Cafe Latte and Americano.

Thank you for the visit! A glorious Sunday to all. I will be blog hopping in awhile. Take care and have a wonderful week ahead!

I woke up today with the news that four more banks in the Us has been closed. Is the recession will ever come to a halt? Like hubby says, the world is self correcting itself. We wanted to be fair and we all wanted to be equal. What the first world countries can do, such is also the aim of third world nations. But maybe this world is never meant to be fair to everybody, financially that is.

So what is a recessionista chic to do when a trip to Harvey Nichols is no longer possible? Take care of yourself, your appearance until the economy bounce back. But just how does a SAHM cope up in between laundry and looking after your toddler? Read on for some short cuts that will have you looking fab in minutes.

1. Smoky eyes

You don't have the time to build up layers of shadow? Simply line the rims of your upper and lower lids with black eyeliner and smudge all the way around with a cotton bud until you get that smoky-eye look.

2. Quick lip plumper
After applying lipstick, take a generous dab of clear gloss and place it in the middle of both top and bottom lips.

3. Seductive Shimmer
Make your decolletage stand out by brushing a light bronzer over your cleavage . For a more natural look, try a plaer shimmer powder.

4. Silky lips
When brushing your teeth also brush your lips to sweep off dry flakes. Next swipe ona gloss with moisture, protection, and color.

5. Instant skin radiance
Spread a shimmer cream or powder accross cheekbones, temples, eyelids and over shoulders to give skin luster.

That's all for now because my little boy wants his lunch. Till next beauty talk!

I woke up feeling happy this morning. I guess the dream made me happy. Ironically, I just could not recall what is was about. Yay.

Mostly, my dreams give me headache. it's always like i am late for the event or that i cannot find what i needed to have to go through something. It's like i dream about going to a concert but then i missed the chance because while rummaging through my belongings to find my jacket, the bus had left. It's always frustrating that i can never go beyond what that dream is all about. duh. This morning was different though. It was like i actually managed to reach somewhere and the people in my dreams were happy too. Everybody was happy.

I am probably not making any sense here. I feel like i am going down with flu so i am trying to distract my system by writing. Anyhow, i will be turning 29 this week and i always get sick before my birthday hihi.

Well, i got a lot to be thankful for. I should probably list them down next time. Here have some raspberry sherbet.

I just finished cooking sinigang, while carrying Andreas on my left hand. He is soo heavy now and i feel really very tired i am tempted to doze off. But there is so much to clean yet so while waiting for my little boy to take his nap, i check my mails hoping to receive my payment from Ringier but i guess, things are just to tight for everybody hihi.

Anyway, recession has hit everyone here in the UAE. Hundreds of people are terminated and/or take forced leave for certain months without pay. While some countries lay-off their employees, Dubai has adopted "redundant position" in reference to sacked employees. There are probably more sad stories to all of these but one e-mail placed humor on the current global crisis. Read on...

A fire alarm rang at 6 PM when almost all shift employees were in office.

As usual thr entire office was evacuated within 3 mins & every employee gathered outside office.

10 minutes passed..................................5 more minutes passed.

Security Officer started Announcement:

"Dear Employees - With a heavy heart , I make this announcement that it will be the last evacuation drill for many of you , as we are laying off almost 80% employees. While moving in , if your access card won't work , you are laid off & all your belongings will be couriered to you tomorrow. We followed this approach as we don't want to send layoff emails in thousands & also to avoid any fights inside the office. Hope you have a nice career ahead. Please move in & try your luck".

Thank you to hubby for sharing this.

movie quote

Brad Pitt's movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" have been receiving lots of raves from critics. It has even earned Pitt the coveted Oscar nomination for Best Actor. I personally has not seen the movie and i am not even sure if i can even watch the DVD copy but i share with you a quote from the movie. I think all parents will appreciate what Button's word of wisdom to his daughter.

Letter to his daughter:

"For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no
rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. And if you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."

Thank you to my classmate, Michael, for sending this.

A glorious Sunday to all my visitors! This week, i will share with you a snapshot of the macro photography exhibit we witnessed at The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence. The American artist, Steve Wall practices a special art of photography whereby amazing results fascinate the viewer due to the smallest detail.

The theme for the showcased exhibition is water.
Simple physics produce these tiny, beautiful and common images.

Thank you so much for the visit. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week!

My high school bestfriend, Kay, sent me this and I am sharing to all my blogger friends.

Tips for the ladies in year 2009

1. Aspire to be Barbie - the bitch has everything.

7. Let your greatest fear be that there is no PMS and this is just your personality.

8. I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here..

9. Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself.

10. Don't get your knickers in a knot, it solves nothing; and makes you walk funny.

11. When life gives you lemons - turn it into lemonade then mix it with vodka.

12. Remember every good looking; sweet, single male is someone else's ex-boyfriend!

love for 364

Posted by Kero at Thursday, February 05, 2009 0 sweets for Kero
Perfumes, chocolates, flowers, dinner under the stars, and everything else romantic are a huge hit on the big love day called Valentine. But how do you celebrate love for the next 364 days?

1. Use a friendly touch.
Touch your partner's arm when talking to him or ruffle his hair as you walk past. Physical touch is one of the five languages of love.

2. Take pride.
Tell your partner that you are proud of him and mean it.

3. Be present.
For a few moments each day, give your partner your undivided attention.

4. End with a kiss.
Kiss your partner goodnight, even if you have fallen out. This will show him/her that your relationship is more important to you than your argument.

Weekend was spectacular as we attended the annual Aerobatics Show in Alain International Airport. The show ran from 12 noon to 6 pm, with each airplane stunts more breathtaking the previous. Pilots from Russia, USA, Italy, KSA, Switzerland, Sweden, and UK all put together one thrilling show. The desert sun and heat was scorching but we all enjoyed the family event. I share with you today some of my snapshots.

The Aero GP team display the capabilities of their pilots.

We also witness a sky writing from PITTS.

This creation from Saudi Hawks was a huge hit with the crowd.

Thank you so much for the visit fellow weekenders! I am very excited to see your WS entries as well. Take care and enjoy the week ahead. Cheers!!
