I am guessing the theme means what we plan for our children this year. I am excited and anxious, thrilled yet feeling a bit sad seeing my bebe grow up so quickly!
So here is what we planned to accomplish and teach our two-year old Andreas.
1. Introduce more analytical games and toys like jigsaw puzzle.
-- Andreas enjoys his stacking rings, stacking cups, and shape sorters. He used to spend plenty of time arranging and figuring them out but now he does them easily within seconds. As for the shape sorter, except for the stars, he can fit the rest of the shapes on his own.
2. Introduce other musical toys
--I'm thinking flute and clarinet toys. These days, he can blow the whistle and the toy trumpet, enjoys the marakas, likes the sound of his xylophone and tambourine, and presses his little fingers on the keyboard. He enjoys tapping his palm on his drums so we should be introducing the drum stick pretty soon.
3. Crafts & Lego
-- A pair of scissor and glue for simple crafts. Play dough. We are seriously lagging on this area ;(. But for his lego toys, he does imitate us putting one on top of the other. I am hopeful he will try to build something like Burj Khalifa :)
4. Arts
-- We do coloring every now and then. We even started drawing and he can do this little straight lines.
5. The Toilet Training.
--I am excited and nervous about it. I'm doing my own readings now.
6. Ride and pedal his bike
-- So far he would pedal while we are pushing him along. Hopefully he can steer his bike on his own by the end of the year.
7. Introduce Days of The Week, Months In A Year.
-- If there is one activity that can make my kiddo sit and notice, it's flashcards and charts. We have flashcards and charts of alphabets, numbers, colors, shapes, and the more common animals. We started this when he was 18 months and had it almost everyday (he would even demand the activity). Sometimes when i'm cooking i can hear him pointing to and saying "a" and "z", and also the number "10." I don't want to brag nor jump to any conclusions but I see that my son has a certain fondness for the alphabets and numbers. I pray he will still be as interested when we buy additional charts and flashcards.
8. Books. Lots of Books.
--Reading time. He sees his parents engrossed in newspapers and books. I admit I cannot read aloud to him everyday but everyday too, he never fiogets to turn pages of his books. His little bookshelf is a mess whenever his Dada comes home. I hope to buy plenty of second hand children's books.
9. Cooking and Helping in the kitchen.
--My son loves to watch me get busy in the kitchen. He would demand to be carried so he can look closer to the stew. Early on he loves playing with kitchen utensils, pots, and pans. Well he's getting more than that this year because i plan to let him help me bake his favorite goodies. It could be as simple as guiding his hands to grease the pan, or stirring the chocolate batter.
10. More, more playdates.
-- Andreas can really be very sweet around adults. But noisy boisterous kids scare him. I hope that will change this year. I am planning more trips to the park and to the soft play area. And if it's any sign, for the first time this morning, he enjoyed his playdate with our neighbors' kids. They are ages 6 and 7 and screamed in delight watching them race their scooters. He ran around smiling at them -- as if showing he can be fast too like them :)
Well that is all i can think for now. I hope we will be able to realize these and more (like trips to the zoo, nature park, and museums, ) because kids have only one childhood. It is our duty to make it a fun and learning preschool years.

:-) that's really great!
looks like Andreas will be so busy this year.
Hi Kero! you a very smart list. With all the modernization (like computers, psp, laptop for kids) its best to teach them the old-fashioned way. Things that's on your list.
They don't call that age terrible 2for nothing. Have fun when doing all of these. :) Happy MM!
