The Meydan Hotel

Posted by Kero at Sunday, November 21, 2010
I never suspected it will happen.

The Main Grandstand with a seating capacity of 60,000. Total audience capacity is 120,000
Oh i dreamed of it. Any expat toys with the idea of a Jumeirah hospitality experience. But since we already dined in Burj Al Arab, I moved my sights to other properties like Atlantis The Palm.

Dirt Track. The Meydan Grandstand also served as the venue for Elton John and Carlos Santana concerts this year.
However, Hubby (always the restless one on holidays) kept asking what we were going to do for the long Eid. I told him I was thinking of barbecue at Creek Park or explore Dubai Marina area. He just smiled and asked me to look for something else to do. I am now suspecting that when he gets too stressed, he wants to conquer hotels LOL!

And so I dialled a couple of hotel numbers starting with Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa. But they were fully booked. What was I thinking? It was four days before Eid Al adha and it is the peak season for tourists ...unless of course we try 5-star hotels. And that's how I arrived in Jumeirah The Meydan.
Our room with TV monitor in the bath and private balcony

Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse is the brainchild of the Ruler of Dubai, his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Ruler is a major figure in international thoroughbred horse racing and breeding. So much is his enthusiasm that Sheikh Mohammed hosts the Dubai World Cup - the world's richest series of horse races.

View of the grand lobby from the elevator. The crystal-filled bar changes color from every floor level.
Inside the iconic stadium is Jumeirah the Meydan, the world's first 5-star trackside hotel. The brand new hotel received their first guests in March 2010. It has 285 rooms and suites all facing the race track. It has 5 luxury restaurants including "the place to brunch" these days, Farriers. Guests have complimentary mini-bar in their rooms with fruits, soft beverage and a coffee maker which make a mean Italian espresso. Though 15 km away from Dubai proper and not a beach property, the rooftop infinity pool is sure to make you gasp in awe.

The exlusive Madinat Jumeirah Beach
Because this is managed by Jumeirah Group, guests receive unlimited access to the exclusive 2km Madinat Jumeirah Beach. We definitely had a fun time revisiting Al Qasr! But the best part, complimentary tickets to Wild Wadi worth 350AED woot woot!!!

I was soo thrilled reading the Eid Mubarak greeting card on our room that I didn't notice this on the TV screen until on the second day yay!

Oh did I tell you that everything in the hotel room is push-button - including the toilet?
