Happy Tuesday visitors! The holy month of Ramadan started last Sunday - you are not allowed to eat in public until sun down. From 6 pm onwards you may break your fast or what they call Iftar and indulge in any food you want. Actually, expats here get excited about Ramadan because of the endless buffet on restaurants and free food from Arabic tents. For the rich Muslims, this is their way of sharing their wealth to the lesser fortunate.
So my little b0y has his share of Iftar as well. Though kids and pregnant women are exempted from fasting but we see to it Andreas gets his share of Arabic food beyond lentil soup and kubos (the Arabic bread) dipped in hummous or garlic paste.

That is brown rice and lamb stew. Since it is packed with protein and iron, i chose to give him strawberries for dessert. The vitamin C he will get from the fruit will aid his body to better iron absorption.
Oh by the way, i stopped giving him his vitamins the other day. That ends his 5-day multivitamin supplement. We noticed that on that period, he only wanted to eat carbo - just plain rice or bread or biscuit. Maybe because he is getting essential nutrients from his multi-vitamin so his body signals he only needs to load on carbohydrates. Yesterday, he ate his scrambled egg, whole of banana, yoghurt, slices of apple, and a dinner of rice and monggo. It's amazing how our bodies can tell what we need.
