We attended on Sunday the media launching of 2010 Cartier Exhibit at The Dubai Mall. Dubbed as "Art Of Fine Watchmaking," Cartier brought to their boutique around 17 historical pieces which included pocket watches, mystery clocks and their cult designs Santos Wristwatch and Tank Watch.
These outstanding exhibit shows the history and tradition of the luxury brand. I share with you some of my photos from the event.
In 1853, the first watches appeared in the Cartier Archives, which included fob and pocket watches. This single push-piece chronograph pocket watch was created in 1927.
An exceptional legacy, the Mystery Clocks were introduced in 1912. They suspend unreal, precious time by means of an invisible, secret mechanism. Shown above is the Single Axle Mystery Clock made in 1921. The illusion is complete, allowing the hands to float, as if weightless, in a prism of crystal.
Pocket watches with transparent back. Made in 1921 and 1929
In 1904, Louis Cartier designed one of the first modern watch-bracelets for the Brazilian Aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont who was keen to be able to tell time without letting go of the controls of his machine.
Pasha De Cartier was designed in 1943
Double Time Zone Mystery Travel Clock designed in 1997 for the firm's 150th anniversary.
Cartier Boutique at The Dubai Mall is the biggest in the Middle East.
The exhibit runs from September 30 to October 12, 2010.
