Our weekend was spent viewing the exhibit called Ramadan Reflections. Because the city is largely composed of expatriates, the local government take this chance to display some traditional artefacts. This way, we expats learn about the Emirati culture.
Before the discovery of oil, or the massive of construction of man-made islands, Dubai used to be the world's largest supplier of oriental (salt water) pearls. In the 1940's and 1950's, the government relied solely on the pearl divers to maintain the economy.
