I've been blogging for five years and rarely do I publish my posts without an accompanying image. It makes my blog more fun, it affirms what I am writing about, and ultimately, photos keeps my readers on the website for a longer time.
Hence, I don't leave the house without a camera. It sounds crazy but I take photos of just about everything I see - cars, food, a photo frame, a cup of tea, oblivious people on interesting situations, etc.. You never know when you might need them for a post. But even though, I still have to look up on the internet from time to time for some images. I mean, how do you make a fun post out of home insurance topic? Or when I must write about a specific ingredient for good decadent dessert? I don't have a single photo of French macaroons and I don't go out of my way to buy desserts either.
My quest for images brought me to Fotolia. It's an awesome website with over 12 million collection of photos, graphics, and HD videos. You can buy images here for as low as $0.14. I am thoroughly enjoying my experience because I quickly find images to relate even with difficult topics to write such as construction, online business degree, mesothelioma, backing tracks, etc.. My advertisers are pleased with the effort I put to make interesting posts that they have been giving me extra assignments for the past couple of weeks.
For those interested do know that all images and graphics found in Fotolia can be used in:
- Creation of advertising media
- Creation of professional documents
- Illustration of press articles
- Illustration of websites, blogs, newsletters, web banners
- Illustration multimedia documents
- Illustration / Decorations on TV shows or movies
