Breakfast At Farriers

Posted by Kero at Thursday, November 25, 2010
Our stay in Jumeirah The Meydan includes complimentary breakfast. This is the fifth hotel we stayed this year and by far, they served the most lavish breakfast.

Our table for al fresco breakfast. Breakfast is served daily from 6:30am to 11:00am
Our breakfast is on Farriers, an all day dining restaurant situated on the ground floor. Guest have an option to dine inside or al fresco. It was only 7am so we decided to dine outside and get a good dose of Vitamin D as well.

In true Jumeirah hospitality, we were given one of the best table with a good view of the race track. As soon as we were seated, two attendants immediately asked for our choice of beverage. Hubby chose black coffee and I had my green cuppa.

After a sip of warm Ronnefeldt Japan Green Tea, I went inside to check the international buffet while Hubby immersed himself with the complimentary newspaper.

I am not used to heavy breakfast so I opted for slices of fresh fruits, a lovely custard-filled crustless pastry, and chocolate-raisin strudel.

Melons in all colors!
Delightful pastries!
As soon as I was seated again, Hubby pointed out the Jockeys and horses exercising and soaking up the sun. We were informed earlier that the racing season for Winter Meet at Meydan started last week. You can view the schedule here.

I've always been fascinated with horses. It's in my bucket list that I have to ride one someday. Hubby promised that he is going to take us to Mines View Park in Baguio City next time we go home so we can try riding. So I sat there marveling my life's grace. I never, ever dreamed of breaking my fast with horses running past. Needless to say, I was over the moon! Thank you, darling, for a fabulous holiday. mwaaah!
The venue for Dubai World Cup - the planet's richest horse race with a  prize of $26M
When Hubby came back from the buffet area, his plate was full of  what he calls the cowboy breakfast.

Creamy egg omelette, turkey bacon, roasted tomato, baked beans, and sauteed fresh button mushrooms
Apparently, he went on to open all those lined-up food warmer, he saw some waffles and pancakes and he brought me a plate because he knows I am such a carbohydrate addict.

Hubby always the adventurous in food, brought Italian style Eggs in Cocotte. It's basically baked egg with frehly grated parmesan and Gruyere cheese, butter, salt and pepper. The original recipe calls for heavy cream at the bottom but Italians opt for herbs as seen here.

Everything about the food was wonderful. They waiters were smiling, cordial, and knowledgeable. This has got to be one of our best dining experience - next to Al Muntaha to be more specific.  And with such millionaire ambiance, it is easy to see why Farriers owns the "it" place to be for Dubai's Friday Brunch Culture. What we had was only complimentary and it seems they put all the stops to make every guest feel special and satisfied. I wonder how it is if you pay 495AED to dine in.

I notice one thing though, in Dubai, a buffet means waiters are on the lookout for emptied plates. Whether you are dining in Kaleidoscope at Atlantis The Palm or at budget-friendly Ponderosa in Deira, they are very quick to gather the plates you cleaned up. This is to make sure there is space on your table for the next course. With Farriers though, you have to call the attention of the attendants. I am not complaining but as we were about to leave our table, a waiter quickly came over to ask if we need anything else. When we informed we wanted to move to another table, the waiter quickly apologized for the uncollected plates. He said that they were waiting for us to signal them to clean up.

It was very nice to know that they want to give guests as much privacy as possible. But we wanted another table inside because the sun was getting unbearable on the terrace not because our table was full of empty plates lol!
