Camping Survival Kits

Posted by Kero at Sunday, July 18, 2010
We are planning to take our little boy to his first camping trip. Hubby will be on leave two weeks from now and that gives us a week of family summer holiday yipeeee! I am excited because after four years, we get to do this again. We used to go camping in the beaches of Dibba, Oman and along the east coast of Fujairah.

Like any family trip, preparation is essential. My mind was racing last night with the list of things we need to bring - first aid kit, water, clothes, water toys, floater, diving suits, etc.. Oh this is going to be challenging to pack! Fortunately, I found a website called Survival Camping World (SCW) that sells packed camping and emergency gears. It is such a delight for a Mommy like me because they also have a special camping survival kits for children. Really, as much as you try to pack early, one is always bound to forget something.

SCW offers finest survival kits made by Guardian Survival Gear. It includes emergency survival kits and food and water supplies with shelf life of up to 25 years. Because they are also packed compact, they are easy to carry and/or easy to store as they take minimal space. So that makes them perfect as well to stay in the car for emergency purpose.

Some of these kits are packed for as good as 30 people. Some are for  a group of  10, 5 or just for one person. I am eyeing the Deluxe Survival Kit for 2 persons and one Children Survival Kit for our toddler.

The Deluxe Survival Kit For 2 weighs 17 pounds with food and water supplies. It also includes a Hiker's Backpack, squeeze flashlight (absolutely no batteries needed), mini scan radio (batteries included), Deluxe hygiene kit (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, floss, hand & body lotion, etc), lighter and water proof matches, 30-hour emergency candle, sleeping bag, five in one survival whistle (compass, signal mirror, etc) among others.

On the other hand, the Children Survival Kit consists of entertainment (coloring book with crayons, activity book), first aid kit, glow sticks, food and water, rechargeable squeeze flashlight, and all the other essentials to keep kids engaged for the whole camping trip,

Oh this is so convenient! I am saved from the stress of packing and worrying that I have all the time now to sit down and do some painting with my son while waiting for the camp week.
