(New) Batanes Photos - View From Chemtrad

Posted by Kero at Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Half the people -- Filipinos -- I meet in Dubai had never heard of Batanes. The other half are eager to visit the province - once they get over from the shock that they are speaking to a local. I don't mean to complain but just how do they expect us to look like? =)

Anyways, to those friends who are eager to visit our province, I got some presents for you. Read on...

I chatted yesterday with my aunt who is the Chemtrad Aviation Corporation Area Manager in Batanes. Chemtrad flies islander planes (8-10 seater) around the province. Basco to Itbayat and Basco to Tuguegarao. I am not sure if they resumed flying Basco to Laoag. I think i first saw their islander planes back in high school (90s yay!). So yes, they have established trust and friendship and a reliable business with the Ivatans.

Recently, as my aunt related, the big boss of Chemtrad visited Batanes along with three professional photographers. Dragging my aunt along, they toured Basco, Sabtang, and Itbayat in three days. My aunt took plenty of photos as well and the professional photographers were generous enough to give her copies of some of their shots. I will be sharing those photos later on but for now, let's see what you can view on board Chemtrad.

This is Chemtrad RP C28, an 8 seater islander. I know most people will shiver at the thought (and anecdotes) of flying with the redhead beauty but it is a must-experience :). I lost counts how many trips i had for official business. Hubby too was awarded frequent flyer of Chemtrad =)

RP C28 at Itbayat Airport. Uh-huh it's a clay airstrip.

And the view, man, the view.....yes, you can see this on flight of those larger airplanes but the slower ascend and descent of an islander means you have better quality photos. And of course, because you are flying on a much lower altitude due to a shorter distance, you got the landscape framed and captured exactly how you want it.

Nope. This is not a sponsored post. In fact we are not going home anytime soon (in case Chemtrad decides to award us free flights kidding!!!) because hubby suddenly realized he wanted us to travel somewhere. I am simply, honestly saying how you can make the most of your visit to Batanes.

Scroll down and let me take you home...

Thanks for the tour! These photos I didn't see in other blogs. But I'm not sure if I would be brave enough to ride in that beautiful red Chemtrad. But it looks and sounds very challenging. =)
