Couple's Corner - The Wedding

Posted by Kero at Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Rodliz’s Nest

After two agonizing years, we met again nine days before we exchange our vows as husband and wife.

Ceasar went to Batanes alone to do the pamanhikan. Though all the papers we needed for the civil wedding had been prepared, he still has to speak to my grandparents. The funny thing was, i was in the office when he went to our house and spoke to them. Both my grandparents were silent. They did not say yes nor no.

We were suppose to have the pamanhikan that night but he said he had nothing better to do at Pension Ivatan so he opted to come and visit the house at nine o'clock in the morning. He said he didn't know if any of what he said was welcome to them. I could not blame my grannies because it was the first time they ever met him!

But they did gave their blessings after three days when we left the island.

Oh the first kiss?......nothing like it was the first time. It's like we've always been kissing lolz!. It felt so natural. It was like coming home....

This is our first picture together. Ceasar took it in his trusty old Nokia phone. It remains my favorite picture of us.

With the BOY - I love most. Pension Ivatan, Batanes

For somebody who prizes her clothes collection, i messed up on my wedding day. For every function, for every picnic, or just a stroll at the park, i plan for my clothes (yes, my closet is a nightmare). But for my wedding, i had no particular dress in mind. I packed three un-used dress hoping to find something nicer in Baguio.

We arrive Baguio two days before we exchange vows. Our hotel was just a stone throw away from the shopper's delight Session Road but I failed to do any shopping. After we had our ring engraved with each other's name, Ceasar decided we should wear it right away. And there, while riding the jeepney back to our hotel, we slipped each other's ring.

Ceasar said, now we are married. The ceremony at the civil court will just be for formality.

April 26, 2006. I wore a Grecian floor length pink dress. For the first time in my life, i was looking forward to the "event", not in what i was going to wear.

On our way to the ceremony, I suddenly felt guilty not having done better on every lady's dream day. I managed to acquire YSL and Chanel shoes. I wore Rusty Lopez on rainy days and yet I was wearing an old blue ballet flats! Even people who don't care so much as to how they look would not dare wear flats or blue shoes (no matter how cute the ribbon is), to their wedding.

I was absolutely wearing the wrong shoes. My husband-to-be quipped,

"At least you are marrying the right man."

We exchange vows before a judge in Baguio City

To my dearest hubby, who thinks he should have done better than to propose in YM, I will not want to change anything about the proposal and the funny, strange wedding we had. I told you before, I want a great marriage. Not a grand wedding.

And you are certainly doing an amazing job keeping your wifey happy and still blushing :)

well a great wedding doesn't always mean a grand one. it doesn't matter how grand or simple it is, it's the love that counts.

mine is up too.

Hehehe! you obviously didn't care what to wear on your wedding day, but you were so looking forward to the wedding itself.

When you marry someone that you know you will spend the rest of your life with, wrong shoes doesn't matter.

Teka bakit namanhikan si Ceasar ng wala ka? di ba dapat nakahrap kayong pareho. No wonder speachless ang mga olds mo, eh imagine first time nila ma meet ang guy na nasa harap nila, tapos namamanhikan., wohoo!

I lvoe your love story Kero, and I lvoe the part when you said " I want a great marriage. Not a grand wedding."

That says it all..Thanks for joining us this week and lookign forward to next week.

I like that word, "At least you are marrying the right man"...

The most precious moment when we said i do to our hubby. It doenst matter if grand wedding or just simple as mine or yours...the important is we love our parner, right?

Love it! I love the phrase "at least you marry the right man" for me that is the MOST important thing and not anything else.
We also do the ring shopping and the dress the day before the wedding, though it excites me but I was thinking more of our life together as husband and wife.
Yup 38 years is worth waiting for. Happy weekdays!

Oh this is sweet...that was indeed a great wedding for you married the right man, your hubby was very correct right there..kahit na you were wearing a wrong pair of shoes... ang importante naman is the real feelings towards each other...hassle lang ang malaking handaan...magkatampuhan rin naman, saka marami pang gate crasher..

I love reading your story sis, as in from the two years of bf and gf to the pamanhikan wow, pinoy na pinoy talaga. It's funny when you can't decide what to do or what to dress, kung iisipin natin gosh wedding lng yan, but it was the best part of our lives.

i would say no matter how simple or mismatch ur clothes was (if u may call it that way) on ur wedding day....it absolutely has nothing to do with how u have run ur marriage so far... its so perfect...full of love, excitement, adventure...! i agree that its not about the grand wedding but a grand marriage...indeed u are living that dream. bless u always! bebe andreas is so blessed and lucky to have u as parents. wish u more kids.

strange, hilarious!!

i can imagine your grandparents saying nothing (perhaps totally dumbfounded about this strange guy saying strange things to them! and maybe acting strangely too! haha) ... e kasi naman si Caesar!

... and your putting on the rings inside the jeepney, your wedding costumes, shoes, etc.. your wedding do sound strange but very funny... for me, even as a reader, it feels surely very memorable and fun at the same time.. mas exciting nga ang ganyan at parang mas masaya pa kaysa yung plantsado masyado at walang spontaneity... mga ibang couples (esp. brides), they focus so much in the romance, sentimentality, hype of wearing a white dress followed by entire entourage and then after that, what?... you lucky Kero girl!
